A Blog Break? Really? Dang.

Ugh. I’m going to have to be one of those I-Need-To-Give-This-Blogging-Thing-A-Rest-For-A-While People.

I never expected to be one of those people, but it can’t be helped. A bit too much is coming at me a bit too fast and I won’t be able to give this blog the attention it deserves. I won’t lie to you; this bums me out. I like it here and I really like all of you guys.

But, fear not. I do see the light at the end of this tunnel. I’ll be back in about a month.

In the meantime, enjoy this picture of a guinea pig riding a crocodile. You’re welcome.

  1. Blog breaks are healthy for the soul, Mike. I’ll miss what you have to say, but wish you a happy meantime. (Please tell me the guinea pig doesn’t get eaten. . . .)

  2. NNNOOOOO!!!!! You hear about these things happening to other people, but you never think it’s going to happen to someone you know! You can’t do this to us! Hmph, well I suppose I’d better sound a bit understanding and kind – erm…let’s see…ok…that’s fine Mike, you go off and do whatever it is you have to do that’s more important than interacting with us! (How did I do?). Ah well, just make sure you come back to us is all! 🙂

  3. Best of luck on your Giving-Blogging-A-Rest thing so you can do Whatever-You-Need-To-Do. We’ll still be here when you get back. In the meantime, your guinea pig/crocodile sketch reminds me of the song, ‘Never smile at a crocodile…’ Hope the pig gets to the other side without finding himself ‘inside’. 🙂

  4. That’s okay, Mike. >sniff<
    Take all th-the time y-you neeeeeeeeed . . . . >sobs uncontrollably<

No, seriously—it’s great that you’re this busy, right? We’ll be here when you come back.

  5. Ha. Blogging breaks are good, says someone who’s been on one for a while. Enjoy keeping up with everything.

  6. A direct quote from my ten year old:
“It’s SO cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!!!! Is that gonna be a book? Is he taking a blog break to write that book? It’s so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!”

Please do enjoy your blog break – sounds like a sane and sensible strategy!

  7. First of all, the alligator pig cartoon is worth at LEAST a month. Love it. And second of all, I’m impressed that you are at least announcing your departure. I tend to just slip away for periods of time and then sneak back in, hoping no one will notice I was gone…

  8. Your timing is great……I’ll be leaving for Disney on Friday and will be away until 2 August. Now I won’t be missing out on all the smiles your blogs brings. Try
to keep Mom occupied while I’m away!

  9. LOVE the picture, admire you for bravely taking a break to get other things done, and hope the reason is a new contract in the works 🙂 I must say, it seems as though half the blogging world shuts down over the summer. When I think of all the many things I’d like to get done, I’m tempted to join the blog-breakers. You have inspired to potentially switch to part-time…! See you in a month! 🙂

  10. I hope you’re enjoying your summer Mike! I’ll be here when you get back — whee! I love that illustration — cute as all get out I gotta tell ya!

  11. I’m relieved to know the pig has karate skills. We looovvvves guinea pigs.
Here is a tip about blogging and trying to keep the nose above the commitment pond–prescheduling. I sit down and preschedule about five blogs, spacing them a few days apart, which essentially gives me about a month.
See, this way you are still blogging and keeping your fan base happy.
And whatever happened to Lucy? Wasn’t she supposed to keep things running?

    1. I normally do build up a backlog of posts, but my recent schedule has forced me to use them all up and I have not found the time to build up a new reserve. And, of course, blogging is about much more than posting a story; it’s about reading and responding to other blogs. That requires more time than I have right now.

I am afraid that Lucy, my little rodent renegade, is now spending her days under that Burger King dumpster in the sky. She passed away about two weeks after she guest blogged. So I’m going to have to keep things quiet around here for the time being.

But I’ll be back. Take care, Cricket. I’ll see you soon!

  12. Well, good luck with your endeavors and I’m sure you’ll be making just enough trouble.
Also, I hope you still have waffles even without other writers. Waffles are good for the soul.

  13. This is against the universe – I can feel an earthquake coming, or a windstorm, or something else portentous. All is NOT right with the world until you rejoin us in our blogging universe. You are missed. Sigh.

      1. Yep. I’ll be checking in for the next couple of days.

If folks take the time to comment, then I should take the time to respond. My blog pals deserve it.

And, besides, I just HAD to say goodbye to you, Beth!

  14. I am so head over heels in love with that guinea pig. I betcha Lucy is smitten with him too. Have I told you I once had a Reserve Grand Champion guinea pig named Red? I must have some pictures around here somewhere….if only someone cleaned every once in awhile…

  15. Thanks for the heads up on your break, Mike. You have great posts, and I’ll miss them, but look forward to seeing you again when you return. Best of luck on all your new adventures. Liesa

  16. Hey Mike,
I will definitely miss you but I really, really understand. Take your well deserved break and drink a beachcomber (Cranberry juice, OJ and club soda) and take some time chillin out a bit 🙂

  17. Aww, I’m back and you’re going. You did notice I was gone, right? Don’t answer that. I shatter easily. ;0)

Enjoy your beak and please do come back. It would be devastating if that croc got peckish in your absence.

  18. Hey Mike:-) How are you? Hope all is well, and that you’re enjoying your break, and that you’ll bless us with your humour, wisdom and inspiration again soon, if that would serve you. Blessings, Harula xxx
