Hi there! I missed you!
Hurricane Sandy knocked out my heat and power until Saturday afternoon, so I was forced to be MIA from the blogging world. I am not ashamed to say I went through a little withdrawal. I am still without cable, phones, and internet, but the family is fine, the house survived, the lights are on, my feet are warm, and I have a refrigerator, so I will not complain.
I will probably never complain again for the rest of my life.
I am behind on everything, as you can imagine, but I did want to send out this quick post to say that, unlike many other folks in New Jersey, I am getting everything back on track. Do keep those who are still homeless or without power in your thoughts and prayers.
I will post something later this week and will try to catch up on my blog reading.
Next week I will post the BCCBA Acronym Contest winner. Wanna still enter? Go ahead! The contest deadline is now Friday, November 9. Click here for the rules. Let your creativity run wild.
One last thing: I want to send out a very special note of gratitude to those of you who checked up on me in the days following the storm. I was (and am) very touched. I am also proud to be a part of such a kind and considerate blogging community. You guys are wonderful.
Hey there, glad to hear you’re back. We got power restored yesterday afternoon, and like you, nothing I can complain about when others have it so much worse. Forget about not having a home, some people don’t even have property to rebuild on. I am likewise trying to catch up with things around the house. I’m grateful we don’t have it worse. Much to be thankful for!
And the good news is that we lost the stinky tree in the front yard. The white blooms in the spring smelled like fermented fish food so I had to keep the windows closed all April long. I won’t miss that tree!
Glad to hear you’re OK, Tara.
But you stumped me; what kind of tree smells like fish food?
Glad you’re ok! I did notice you haven’t been around for a while and I wondered whether you had been affected by the storm at all. It’s impossible to catch up on all the blog reading you’ve missed when you’ve been away, so don’t stress it, just try and catch up on those from your favourite bloggers…whoever they might be 😉
Fear not, Vanessa. You are always at the top of my “Blogs to Read” list.
It’s only through this crazy weather that I am learning where all my blogging friends live. Glad you’re okay!
Thanks, Catherine!
Ditto! It’s like Christmas morning as each one comes back on line and shares their post-Sandy experiences! Well, like Christmas for *me* to have them back. Sandy was a gift to no one!
You’re pretty easy to shop for.
Thanks for this, very glad you and family are OK and indeed, will keep those affected in my heart and thoughts…OK, it’s still up for grabs then! I’ll get my acronym cap back on!!!
Holy crow, Harula!
Regardless of who wins the contest, I’m giving you a position on the BCCBA’s Executive Committee. You earned it.
Coolness!!!
My stalking skills must have hit an all time low or something. lol I didn’t know where you lived. Glad to know you didn’t get hit with the worst of it!
Thanks, Daphne! I am honored to be a stalkee. Just don’t, you know, get creepy or anything, okay?
HAHA! Nope, I’m not a creepy stalker. 😀
Cool beans. Carry on!
So glad all is well with you all! Maybe the next book will be “Mike Gives Thanks.”
Who on earth would read that?
LOL
Missed you too! We came on yesterday too. Do your parents know anything about their house?
They have no idea about LBI, but they got the power came back in Ramsey on Sunday.
So glad you’re among the electrified!
Yay electricity! (That’s the title of my next book!). I’m just glad to be getting my mind back. I think we were suffering from light deficiency…
I can’t remember the last time I went to bed at 8:30. Candles do make a person oh, so very sleepy.
Nice to have you back, Mike! I’m still thinkin’ hard on that acronym and so far: nada! I’ll keep trying. Welcome back, my friend! xoM
Thanks, but SHEESH, get cracking on that acronym!
I’m so glad you and yours are okay, Mike! My e-mail bounced (several of the ones I sent to the East Coast did, all around the same time), and I was getting worried.
Thanks so much, Sarah!
Mike! I’m so glad you made it through even though you suffered with no electricity. I was concerned as you know. Yay! You’re back in the game. I certainly did miss you as well. Take care Mike — see you later…
Yep. See you later. Take care and be well.
Hey! Glad to hear that you have power. I feel bad for being one of the people who did not check in on you, as I rely on my mother to keep me posted on everyone’s status, but know that we were worried about you guys! I’m glad you extended the contest because I have one for you:
SCRIBE Stopping Celebrities Regarding the Inking of Bad Editions
I should get extra points due to nepotism. See you in a few weeks! Your cuz, Celeste
It’s a darn good acronym but, hey, I’m trying to run a fair contest here. (Fortunately, I’m not picking the winner.)
So sorry! Didn’t realize you were there, glad to hear everything is ok. Hope everything gets back to normal soon.
Things are getting close to normalcy around here. Here’s hoping the upcoming nor’easter doesn’t knock me out again!
I am very happy to hear that you and your family are okay, now. I’ve read so many horror stories about what others in your part of the world have been going through. Take care. 🙂
Thanks, Susan! Here’s hoping things will soon get back to normal for everyone else around these parts.
Hi Mike,
Glad to hear you and your family are fine! 🙂
Thanks, Tracy!
You’re most welcome!
So happy to hear that you are with power and heat (love the line: my feat are warm!). My power/heat came back on a day ago and I have been dancing with joy ever since and, like you, will never complain about anything ever again 🙂
Glad you and your family are safe and look forward to reading more posts soon!
So happy to hear your are among the illuminated as well!
Don’t forget to go out and get some milk.
Got some 🙂
Glad to hear you’re okay! It’s amazing how powerful Sandy was when she came through. I’m glad to hear you and your family were safe, despite the inconvenience of no power, etc.
Here’s to warm feet and refrigerators!
Oh, I’ll drink to that!
We are all glad you are ok my friend! And back on your normal everyday life…
Thanks, Ioanna!
Now I play catchup!
Hey, Mike, I’m just now seeing this post! I didn’t realize you were right in Sandy’s path–I am glad to hear you’re getting back on track.
Best wishes as you make your way back to the World of Computers and Internet. ; )
I’m playing catch-up on everything, but am otherwise peachy, thanks!
