Yes! You Can Draw A Capybara!

“Don’t say you can’t draw me. Of course you can. Capy has faith in you. All you need is a little faith in yourself.”

The release date for Sleepy Happy Capy Cuddles is about a month away and, well, I’m getting giddy!

Preorder it HERE!

I’m pleased to say that this giddiness is shared by the good folks at Page Street Kids, who have done many wonderful things to get the word out. They’ve sponsored a capybara through the World Wildlife Fund. They’ve set me up with book signings and school visits. They’ve created book plates and buttons and other bits of capybara swag. They’ve even sent me a capybara stuffed animal. (Gotta have my stuffy!)

They’ve also created an activity packet. Included in this packet is a capybara drawing guide by Illustrator Extraordinaire Jaimie Whitbread. And I don’t care how artistically challenged you might be, Whitbread’s simple, step-by-step instructions will get you drawing a Guinea Big of your very own!

So give it a try, my friends! And by all means, feel free to share your work in the comments! Or share whatever else you want to say in the comments. I like chatting with you.

      1. Definitely the book 😂
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing capybaras in the wild! Maybe I’ll take my nephew to Perú one day when he’s much older… not today 😝

    1. Yeah, it’s just a Commuter Tour, I’m afraid. But that’s why I’m excited about getting capybara bookplates; I can sign your book without you having to send me a book! (And I’ll give you a capy-button, too!)

      1. OHHHHHHHHHH Do you still have my address? LOL!!!

If you ever do a book tour and end up in the midwest? I’d drive to meet you. I may even bring you *gasp* a WAFFLE!!

  1. Aww. So glad to see another Capybara book on the way, Mike. And you make the drawing look easy. I haven’t forgotten that we were going to trade books! I still have your email and will touch base as soon as I can catch my breath. 🙂

    1. Oh, this is the same capybara book I’ve been blabbing about for months now!

I very much look forward to reading The Necromancer’s Daughter–but no hurry in getting it to me. My book doesn’t come out for another month so we can make the exchange then.

  2. Congratulations! This is really exciting and even more fun that the publishers are excited about it and giving away bookplates and buttons AND sending you a stuffy. For some reason, stuffy reminds me of noses.
I will try my hand at the drawing later, but I am very happy for you.
And I thought of you when I ate waffles for lunch yesterday. Sorry, I didn’t save you any. 😁

  3. I’m going to teach my granddaughter how to draw a capybara when she visits us this fall. I’ll show her these instructions, and we’ll see what she can do. SOOOO cute! And yay for Release Day! Can’t wait for this book, Mike! 😊😊😊

      1. Well, I tried to order, but Amazon Australia says it’s “out of stock” and won’t be in till January. However, I’ll try again next week. Ain’t giving up, no way 😁📚
